2022: Comparison with AMD and Intel

The Chinese 8-core processor showed disappointing test results. This became known on May 23, 2022.

After the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, AMD and Intel manufacturers stopped selling processors in the country. However, Russia has found a replacement for an x86 chip to work with existing software.

Dannie recently released in Russia a motherboard MBX-Z60A the micro-ATX form factor, capable of working with the Kaixian KX-6640MA processor from Zhaoxin. According to the manufacturer, the 8-core KaiXian chip is developed using a 16nm process technology with a frequency of 2.7 GHz and controllers of 16 PCI Express 3.0, USB and SATA lines. However, the test results showed that the processor has 4 cores.

The 3 GHz 4-core 4-thread version of the chip, and the 70 W TDP scored 1,566 on the CPU Mark for multithreaded operations. By comparison, Core i3-12100F scored 14,401 points and Ryzen 5,5,500 scored 19,886 points. There is also a large performance gap for single-threaded operations - 722 KaiXian points compared to 3525 for the Core i3 and 3084 for the Ryzen 5.

One of the advantages of Zhaoxin processors compared to others is the x86 architecture. Therefore, the chips are compatible with tens of thousands of applications and with many operating systems, including Windows. KaiXian is slower than AMD and Intel processors, but due to good compatibility, it is a good alternative[1].
