2022: 5.5-year prison sentence for extortion

At the end of May 2022, Russian businessman Oleg Pokrovsky was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison for fraudulently extorting money from the founder of Wimm-Bill-Dann, David Yakobashvili.

According to Kommersant, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow found Pokrovsky guilty under Part 3 of Art. 30 and Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code. According to the publication, the criminal case is connected with a transaction between the companies "Rent" and "Quarter." They agreed on compensation in the form of real estate under a loan agreement concluded in 2017. The investigation established that the head of Arendkom agreed to compensation under pressure from representatives of Kvartal.

Oleg Pokrovsky offered Yakobashvili help in this matter through his acquaintances in the police and asked for 3 million euros for his services. Businessmen entered into an agreement on legal advice, under which Pokrovsky's people received €200 thousand. However, then the case did not advance, and Yakobashvili turned to the FSB.

The publication notes that under a pre-trial agreement concluded by Oleg Pokrovsky in the framework of a fraud case against Yakobashvili, the accused testified against Alexei Nesnov, a former investigator of the ICR department in the North-Western District of Moscow. He became known due to the fact that he conducted a scandalous case against the co-founders of the IT company Merlion (they were accused of attempted murder of a former top manager, but then were fully acquitted by investigators of the central office of the committee), and then he himself was prosecuted.

Kommersant calls Pokrovsky the investment director of the financial company Fontviel, but there RBC previously stated that "O.I. Pokrovsky is not and has never been an employee of the company."[1]
