2022: Pentagon officially recognizes dozens of biological laboratories in Ukraine

In June 2022, the Pentagon officially recognized the work of dozens of biological laboratories in Ukraine. At the same time, the US Department of Defense assured that the purpose of cooperation with these facilities was not military programs, but the biological security of Ukraine and improving control over human health.

The United States worked to strengthen the biological safety and protection of Ukraine, improve control over the health of people and animals, providing over the past 20 years support to 46 Ukrainian peaceful laboratories, health facilities, as well as disease diagnosis centers, the document says.

It also says that the assistance was provided in cooperation with multilateral structures and different countries. In addition, the document indicated that these laboratories are no different from similar medical and scientific facilities around the world. They also added that Ukraine has no nuclear, chemical or biological military programs.

The United States, as part of international cooperation, also worked to eliminate other biological threats on the territory of the former Soviet Union... This work, often carried out in partnership with external organizations such as WHO and the World Organization for Animal Health, has led to safer and more effective disease surveillance and detection, the Pentagon said.

Statements that the United States participated in the development of biological weapons in Ukraine were made by Moscow in early March 2022. The official representative of the Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov then said that the Russian military managed to detect and destroy pathogens of the pathogens of cholera, anthrax, plague, tularemia and other diseases. Igor Kirillov, head of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCBZ) of the Russian Armed Forces, said that a whole network of biological laboratories working for the Pentagon was formed in Ukraine.[1]
