2022: Raising $3.25 million in investments
On June 15, 2022, it became known that the Russian mobile game developer Hypemasters raised $3.25 million to create its real-time mobile strategy World War Armies.
GEM Capital and The Games Fund (TGF) spearheaded the round, which was also attended by Turkish venture capital fund Ludus. About $2 million came from GEM Capital, $1 million from The Games Fund, and $250 thousand from Ludus.
Hypemasters was founded in 2019 by former Facebook and Unity sales specialist Boris Kalmykov and Last Level co-founder Sergei Petrov. The company is developing video games and employs 34 people. The company's debut game, World War Armies, is an ambitious competitive multiplayer RTS set during World War II.
The company seeks to rethink and adapt classic multiplayer gameplay for mobile devices, while preserving and strengthening the essence of the game in the PvP RTS genre.
This is a watershed moment for Hypemasters, "Hypemasters CEO Boris Kalmykov said in a statement. Funding from new partners - GEM Capital and Ludus - along with subsequent investments from TGF will help us strengthen the team, launch World War Armies and continue development beyond one game. |
At this point, we are also parting ways with MGVC and want to thank them for the great start and all the support they have given us throughout our journey. This is a new chapter in the independent company's path and we feel privileged working with professional gaming venture capital firms. We look to the future with excitement and great optimism, "he added. |
World War Armies is in open beta testing and is scheduled for release worldwide in the summer of 2022.[1]
