2022: Robot Announcement

In mid-June 2022, LG Electronics announced the entry of logistics robots into the market. The South Korean manufacturer will not develop such technologies alone, but in collaboration with CJ Logistics, which provides parcel delivery services.

In accordance with the agreement, both companies committed to developing systems for optimizing robot processes for logistics centers, jointly developing systems for picking orders based on self-propelled robots for searching and classifying goods, and applying robotic solutions to CJ Logistics warehouses.

LG has released its first warehouse robot

LG also said it will supply CJ Logistics with its CLOi CarryBot robot and other warehouse facility management solutions and multi-robot control systems to be used at CJ's major distribution center at Megahub Gonjiam, south of Seoul, as early as July 2022.

CLOi CarryBot is a warehouse robot designed to load a large number of goods and transport them to their destination. During development, this robot was redesigned from an automated controlled vehicle (AGV) to an autonomous mobile robot (AMR).

By June 2022, LG Electronics has been investing in robotics for a long time as one of the key sectors of the company's future growth, and provides its robotic solutions in hotels, hospitals and restaurants. In March 2022, LG announced a collaboration with Dennis Hong, director of the Robotics and Mechanics Laboratory at the University of California. This project concerns the development of advanced integrated robots for the logistics sector that are capable of managing all delivery processes.[1]
