2022: Service Launch

In mid-June 2022, Spanish startup Voicemod launched AI Voices, a service designed to generate celebrity voices and virtual characters in real time. The platform applies machine learning algorithms to transform user voices.

The services of the startup Voicemod are used by music studios, technology companies and advertising brands. However, if past Voicemod products ran on conventional software and existing tools, then the AI Voices platform performs all its operations using algorithms. For June 2022, the developers offer eight personalities, including the voice of actor Morgan Freeman, and promises to add more options closer to a full release.

Service launched that turns a user's voice into a celebrity voice in real time

All voices are processed in real time, so the technology is suitable for streaming on Twitch or calling Discord. All data for these voices were generated using English-speaking professional voice actors with characteristics consistent with the voice recreated by Voicemod. Actors read scripts to generate data for AI-based models, and then sound engineers use traditional sound design techniques to turn voices into full-fledged characters. Many AI voices include dynamic effects, filters, and background music.

All that is required of the Voicemod client is to speak clearly and not intelligibly, not to breathe into the microphone, avoid the words of parasites and make sure that there are no background noises. In the event that users comply with these rules, the AI will capture words in a tenth of a second, and then convert the user's voice into the voice of a virtual character.

The main version of Voicemod for June 2022 is available only on PC, and the developers open access to customers by invitation. By the end of summer 2022, the company promises to launch versions for mobile devices.^[1]
