History
2024: Ukrainian drone attack
On June 27, 2024, the Redkinsky Experimental Plant, which produces unique technologies for Russian aviation, was attacked by Ukrainian pilot aircraft. The incident occurred in the Tver region and became another episode in a series of attacks on objects in Russia.
According to "Газета.ру," the attack on the enterprise was carried out in two stages. The first strike was carried out at night by three drones. One of the drones reportedly fell onto the roof of Shop No. 4 and exploded, the second was shot down by air defense forces and the third attempted to attack the factory site, damaging the pipeline and causing a fire.
According to the publication, two hours later the second wave of attack followed - another UAV fell in the area of the same workshop. Staff at the facility were reportedly evacuated in a timely manner and no one was injured in the incident.
The Redkin Experimental Plant is a strategically important facility for Russian industry. For several decades, the company has specialized in the production of unique chemical products for the needs of the aviation and space industries. The plant actively cooperates with leading scientists and was previously the largest experimental enterprise of the USSR Ministry of Chemical Industry.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, on the night of June 27, 2024, the Ukrainian armed forces fired a total of seven drones in three Russian regions. The military department described these actions as an attempt to carry out a terrorist attack.
Retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk suggested a possible launch of drones from Russia:
I assume that these drones are launched not from the territory of Ukraine, but from the territory of Russia by the so-called sleeping cells of saboteurs who were abandoned even before the start of the conflict or entered our territory through third countries.[1] |
