2022: Appointment as new CEO of Mars
On June 22, 2022, Grant Reed, who had served as CEO since 2014, announced that he would leave the company. It will be led by Pole Wairauch, who is the global president of Mars Petcare.
According to the company, during Reed's work, Mars sales grew by more than 50%, to almost $45 billion, and the staff more than doubled - from 60 thousand to more than 140 thousand people. Among his achievements are expanding Mars' digital capabilities and entering new markets such as veterinary science, pet services and creating healthy pet health snacks, the company's chairman Frank Mars said in a statement.
He has been a mainstay for us, helping us build new directions and pushing us to overcome what we thought was impossible, Mars said in a statement. He has represented Mars on the world stage, particularly on climate change, and has made us famous for acting rather than just committing. |
Reid will continue to represent Mars until the end of 2022 and will attend major events including the UN General Assembly, Climate Week in New York and the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 27).
Wairauh has experience of increasing sales, entering new markets, making big deals and promoting a sustainability agenda. During his work at the head of the pet products division, the size of the business area under his control doubled.[1]
