Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant

Microsoft in August, 2010 announced the updated product line of SQL Server Migration Assistant – free tools which accelerate and simplify migration of different corporate DBMS on the Microsoft SQL Server platform.

The software of SQL Server Migration Assistant for MySQL 1.0 can be used for fast and accurate data transfer from popular open MySQL DBMS on Microsoft SQL Server platforms 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2. The application is supported by converting or migration of managing operators MySQL, cursors, operators of DML, the stored functions, stored procedures, tables, transactions, triggers and representations.

Support of the listed above platforms is implemented also in the new version of the product SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access 4.2 allowing to minimize risks and to reduce costs for data migration from Microsoft Access DBMS (Access 97 and later versions). Thanks to a possibility of linking of tables of Access with the tables SQL Server end users should not refuse use of the usual applications interacting with the corporate database. Both tools also have support of "cloud" Microsoft SQL Azure DBMS and will allow advantage to appreciate flexibility and scalability of this modern solution.

To the client organizations using Oracle 7.3 or Sybase ASE 11.9 DBMS (and later versions) which would like to pass to the alternative platform, are offered products of the SQL Server Migration Assistant series. This software guarantees a possibility of fast migration on SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 (SQL Azure is not included into the list of supported platforms).

In the updated line Microsoft developers implemented expanded support of 64-bit platforms and provided compatibility with new versions of widespread databases, including Access 2010, Oracle 11g R2 and Sybase 15.5.
