Since August, 2010 the website of exchange of photos of Google Picasa Web allows to edit pictures directly on the website using one more service now belonging to Google — Picknik. The editor gives the chance to cut off, scale photos, to remove effect of "red eyes" and also to add the text, a framework and virtual stickers to pictures. For money it is possible to get access to function of work with layers and other additional opportunities of Picknik. At users of Picknik which are not applying Picasa an opportunity to work with service of photoediting and to send images to the websites of Facebook, Flickr, MySpace and Photobucket will remain. However when using from within Picasa function of placement of pictures on other websites will be unavailable. Further in Google are going to expand integration of Picknik and Picasa.


Google started in March, 2013 redirection of visitors of Picasa Web Albums service on social network Google+. In attempt to open web albums Picasa, the browser passes to the section of the user account into Google+ in which albums from Picasa Web Albums appear. This action it is possible to cancel and return to the former interface, having used the offered link.

To cancel readdressing for ever, it is necessary to follow to web albums the link https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/myphotos?noredirect=1. As a result the browser will save cookies and next time will also not execute a redirect.

Besides, Google replaced the link Picasa Web Albums to Google + in the navigation menu on the website which serves for access to services of the company. At last, on the website of technical support of Google it is specified that Google + is "the new house for your photos", informs the blog Google Operating System.

The functionality of Picasa Web Albums includes a possibility of access restriction to albums and a possibility of loading of photos in complete permission. In the past this service was one of the few which allowed to do it. In addition to the website the Picasa application which allows to load easily photos from a local disk on the server is available to users.

In the spring of 2012 Google refused further software distribution for access to Picasa Web Albums from computers of Apple and systems based on Linux, within the next concentration of efforts on more perspective areas.
