2022: Microcomputer Announcement
Russia has developed a unique microcomputer that is protected from viruses and hackers. He records nothing in memory. We are talking about a device called m-TrusT, which was created by scientists from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), they said in early July 2022.
M-TrusT is a so-called single-board computer that becomes a kind of filter, an intermediary between a device to which it is connected and full of dangerous viruses from the outside world. The development has an interface that is compatible with different types of devices. That is, it can be embedded or connected to almost any equipment - from computers to ATMs and even nuclear power plant control terminals.
The system is built in such a way that when turned on, the microcomputer only reads the data and does not write it to memory, which helps to prevent infection or theft of information.
First, we must remove the ability to record from the computer. Then the only thing he can do is check himself: have viruses appeared, have they changed anything, have there been invasions. When he checked and made sure that everything is fine, he adds a function that we disable at the first stage, and again becomes a universal computer, said Valery Konyavsky, head of the information protection department at MIPT. |
The device is designed to protect the so-called critical information infrastructure. We are talking about databases and devices that ensure the operation of energy, financial, industrial, transport and other important areas.
According to the developers, the cost of producing one microcomputer will range from 50 thousand to 100 thousand rubles. To secure all objects of critical information infrastructure in the country, it will be necessary to produce up to 2 million copies per year.[1]
