2022: Testing of the AI-Monitoring service

The European Medical Center (EMS) in the hospital of the Clinic of Sports Traumatology and Orthopedics in Oryol Lane has completed testing of the AI-Monitoring service to prevent the risks of falling patients. This was announced on June 1, 2022 by the European Medical Center.

The Third Opinion service, based on computer vision technology, interprets the received data from motion detection sensors and sends text messages and "casts" of events to the medical console and portable devices of the medical staff.

EMS have been actively develop the digital ecosystem since 2019, and within the framework of compliance with JCI standards, it has chosen the service from Third Opinion for the pilot implementation. The service is able to predict the likelihood of a patient falling, as well as predictively analyze dozens of events, due to which it does not form false notifications.

According to the results of testing, EMS is considering the phased introduction and transition to commercial operation of the service within the entire bed capacity in the hospital, including the hospital of the flagship hospital at Shchepkin 35.

As part of full commercial operation, the number of implemented devices may increase 10 times compared to the testing period. The potential amount of the contract was not disclosed, but at the "catalog value" EMS can invest several million rubles in the project.

During the pilot implementation, not a single fall of the patient was recorded, and the rate of response of nurses to alarming events was reduced to several seconds. Thanks to the video recording, the clinic removed questions to the actions of the medical staff in a number of controversial situations. The main challenge that the company had to face during the pilot was the requirement to comply with a special level of patient privacy. To do this, the developer used image blurring (blurring) and automatic closing of the lenses of monitoring systems (a curtain specially designed for EMS). The company continues to take care of the high level of privacy of its patients and the protection of personal data. All service information is processed on servers installed in EMC and is not transferred to the cloud or third-party services.
