2022: Product Announcement
At the end of June 2022, the South Ural State University (SUSU) announced the creation of a smart office chair that will help those who sit at computers for a long time. As noted in the university, the project is being implemented against the background of the lack of effective solutions for the prevention of the occurrence and effective treatment of back pain. At the same time, there is growing evidence that the design of office chairs and chairs is the reason: it makes it impossible to maintain a static position for a long time.
According to Vitaly Epishev, candidate of biological sciences, director of the Sports Science REC of SUSU, the university created the concept of "active sitting," in which the seat is mobile, which allows not only to constantly monitor your posture, but also train postural muscles, perform sitting exercises. The line of orthopedic chairs created by SUSU with an anatomical seat of complex geometric shape along the Z axis and the function of "active sitting" is intended for people leading a sedentary lifestyle, he said.
The press service of the university also noted that the study of the biomechanics of "comfortable poses" of a person in a sitting position using the XSens motion capture system, conducted by scientists at SUSUS, made it possible to establish that in all "comfortable poses" in the office chair there is a rotation of the pelvis back, increasing the load on the lumbar spine and changing the positions of the thoracic and cervical spine.
By 2022, various orthopedic chairs for home and work are already on sale. Their main functions are:
- height adjusted according to the height of the person;
- anatomical seat and back;
- lumbar and neck support;
- rigid fixation of the structure in one position;
- adjustable armrests.[1]
