2025: Agreement to Establish a Digital Coal Warehouse for Coke Chemical Production
MegaFon and the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) have agreed to create a digital coal warehouse for coke and chemical production. The project optimizes the management of the quality of raw materials that are used for smelting cast iron, and will reduce the specific consumption of coal charge by about 25%. Megafon announced this on June 19, 2025.
The agreement on the implementation of the project and other digital solutions was signed by MegaFon CEO Khachatur Pombukhchan and CEO of PJSC MMK Pavel Shilyaev.
Digital modeling of coal warehouse processes will allow the mill employees to take into account the presence and movement of coal concentrates in real time, and to monitor their structure and characteristics in detail. Due to such monitoring of the operation of key mechanisms used in loading and moving raw materials, including conveyors, as well as metering and crushing equipment, it will be possible to effectively plan unloading and improve product quality.
Under current conditions, the digitalization of production processes becomes a real tool for improving the efficiency of enterprises. Our projects with the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant confirm this thesis. The construction of a private corporate network, the creation of a digital twin of an iron ore raw material warehouse, automation of verification and certification of metal products - the results of the implementation of these solutions have already been highly appreciated in production. The digital coal warehouse project will be the next step in optimizing production processes at the enterprise, "said Khachatur Pombukhchan, CEO of MegaFon.
At the first stage, the operator will deploy a system for monitoring and recording incoming raw materials and integrate it with solutions already available at the production site. The launch of the first stage of the digital coal warehouse into commercial operation is scheduled for early 2026.
MMK consistently implements digital solutions to improve production efficiency. Successful experience in automating the transportation and warehousing of iron ore raw materials in the agglomeration charge preparation workshop has become the starting point for scaling such solutions to other redistributions, "said Pavel Shilyaev, General Director of MMK PJSC. - Digital control over technological processes, minimizing the influence of the human factor, as well as improving the quality of products - MMK priorities, and digital technologies allow you to effectively solve these problems.
In addition to digitalization of coke-chemical production, MegaFon will expand the territory of the private corporate network Private LTE, operating on the basis of the package core of the domestic development Proteus. As part of the new stage of infrastructure development, the pLTE enterprise will be additionally deployed in workshops at the main industrial site and remote locations - aglofactory No. 5 and lime-dolomite production.
2024: Digital Platform Development Treaty for Cyclic Traffic Management
MegaFon and Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) have signed an agreement on the development of a digital platform for managing cyclic traffic. MegaFon announced this on July 23, 2024. The solution automates the control of equipment that moves along specified routes. The economic effect of the introduction of the system can be over 50 million rubles per year.
The agreement, signed in July 2024, involves the automation of MMK cyclic transport. We are talking about the control of transportation carried out by heavy vehicles and loading equipment moving along the specified routes at the plant. With the help of the program, the management of motor transport in the enterprise will be transferred from manual mode to digital mode, which will reduce the burden on employees and avoid human errors. The intelligent solution will control the operation of the fleet, form work plans for each unit of equipment, determine the optimal routes of movement, transfer tasks online to drivers and operators of loading equipment.
MegaFon will develop separate control modules for different categories of users: administrators, dispatchers, drivers and drivers. In addition, the web version of the system will be adapted for work on mobile devices. At the first stage, the platform will combine more than 50 machines. In the future, the system will be scaled to other types of transport and the number of equipment will increase to 150 units.
In 2022, the companies entered into the first agreement as part of a large-scale digitalization program for the entire MMK fleet. At the first stage, a system of general cargo transportation was developed. As of July 2024, it is at the final stage of pilot production. Even before the commercial launch, the system increased the efficiency of the plant's cargo fleet by more than 10%. The implementation of both solutions will put more than half of the MMK fleet into automatic control mode.
Digital control of cyclic vehicles will allow MMK to ensure the maximum load of equipment. As of July 2024, this figure is 70%. This solution will reduce temporary downtime in process chain bottlenecks and optimize the operation of expensive machines. As a result, the plant will reduce the financial costs of operating the fleet and make transport management more efficient, - said Viktor Shishkin, director of Motor Transport Management LLC, which is part of the MMK PJSC Group.
The transfer of MMK fleet control from manual to digital mode not only solves current operational tasks, but also, if necessary, will allow the plant to increase the fleet, increase the volume of work, without increasing the cost of automation. The platform developed by MegaFon adapts to different types of transport, production conditions and customer tasks, analyzes data and evaluates processes according to different parameters. Thanks to the expertise in creating such products for the tasks of customers, we can implement such solutions at any industrial facilities in the country, - commented Alexander Kaloshin, Director of the National Projects Department of MegaFon.
2022: Digital Fleet Management Platform Development Plan
MegaFon On July 4, 2022, he announced that Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works he would develop a digital platform for automating the control, control and analysis of equipment. The system will unite over a thousand units of transport industrial the enterprise's cars, from cars to quarries and loading and unloading machines, as well as accumulate data about the transportation that contractors organize. The economic effect of launching the solution will be over 30 million rubles annually.
{{quote "For the first time in Russia, a telecom operator will transfer control of an industrial fleet of this scale from manual to digital mode. The intelligent settings of the software complex will allow you to assign the optimal transport, contractors and route, they will be able to automatically control processes, leaving only corrective actions behind the person. This will help the Magnitogorsk plant cope with the growing volume of work and information: over the year, the company carries about 300 thousand tons of cargo, and the intensity of transport use as early as July 2022 exceeds 3 million machine hours, "said Ruslan Gaboev, director of national projects at MegaFon. }}
MegaFon will develop a series of technological modules for the specific tasks of the enterprise. Thus, based on data on the quality and timing of orders, compliance with routes, downtime and speed, the program will be able to independently assess the effectiveness of drivers, and by analyzing information about the state of the fleet, it will form a service request, which will avoid downtime and losses. A cartographic register of machine movement will also be developed, in which all participants in the process will be able to control the stages of transportation.
The platform will be able to automatically create waybills, consignment notes, and enter various transportation indicators. In addition, it automates such time-consuming manual processes as the creation of reports on tenders, orders, auctions, fines and debts.
We will allocate over 134 million rubles to automate the transport and logistics system and business processes of the plant. This will reduce idle vehicle mileage by 30%, reduce line downtime by up to 7%, halve the time spent on internal processes, and significantly save on fuels and lubricants. In addition, the decision will help prevent breakdowns, remind you of the need to undergo maintenance, appoint the most high-quality and profitable carrier, - said Viktor Shishkin, director of Motor Transport Management LLC (MMK Group of Companies).
MegaFon will also adapt the web version of the system to work on mobile devices for the convenience of its employees and to improve the speed of decision-making.
All transmitted information will be stored in the closed loop of the MMK, which will ensure the confidentiality and security of the data.
