2022: Creating a backup IT infrastructure
DB Sberbank JSC in the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with specialists from SberService and one of the system integrators, has developed and implemented a distributed disaster-tolerant IT infrastructure based on the main and backup data centers. SberService announced this on July 7, 2022.
In total, DB Sberbank JSC provided redundancy of more than 40 critical information systems and services. In the event of emergency or unforeseen circumstances, including man-made accidents, the operability of the specified banking systems can be restored within four hours, which was confirmed during practical tests.
The idea of the project began in 2020 after assessing the criticality of business processes, the risks of an emergency, the state of the IT infrastructure and information systems. The bank's two main data centers are located in the seismic zone in Almaty. To ensure the continuity of information systems in the event of an earthquake or other emergencies, it was decided to introduce a third disaster-resistant data center.
The designed and implemented solution is based on three geographically distributed data centers (two of which are located in Almaty and one in Karaganda).
The project team and SberService specialists modernized the corporate data network, server complex, organized independent trunk communication channels between the existing and backup data centers. Participation in such projects is an excellent opportunity to fully show the full range of professional competencies of our engineers and their ability to solve non-trivial IT problems, "added Alexey Yevtushenko, CEO of SberService. |
In addition, the project has developed an IT Disaster Recovery Contingency Plan (DRP). During the exercises, the IT Emergency Recovery Plan confirmed its relevance and capacity.
The developed transfer switch Plan takes into account the requirements of the regulator and contains a description of the entire set of organizational and technical measures necessary and sufficient for organizing and restoring IT in case of unforeseen circumstances. In addition, its methodological part will allow further improvement and development of the IT and Bank continuity management system, "added Roman Smirnov, Head of SberService. |
