2022:7 years in prison for fraud
On July 6, 2022, the Gagarinsky Court of Moscow sentenced Vladimir Alexandrov to seven years in prison. He was found guilty under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale). Also, the former deputy general director of Aeroflot was fined 900 thousand rubles.
Other persons involved in the case are the former head of one of the airline's departments Tatyana Davydova and lawyers Alexander Slivko and Dina Kibets. Each of them received 6-6.5 years in prison and fines in the amount of 700 thousand rubles, 650 thousand rubles and 600 thousand rubles, respectively. During the trial, none of the defendants pleaded guilty, their defense insists on an acquittal.
According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, to which Kommersant refers, the airline's top managers in the period from 2016 to 2018, having entered into a criminal conspiracy with lawyers, ensured the transfer of 250 million rubles to them for the services allegedly rendered during litigation. The investigation concluded that all five contracts for the provision of legal services were fictitious.
According to the documents, the executors were Slivko and Kibets, but in reality all the work was carried out by employees of the Aeroflot legal department. The money written off to pay for services was stolen by the participants in the scam, Kommersant writes.
We will appeal this decision, - Alexandrova lawyer Maria Korchagina told RBC. |
The lawyers are going to appeal the verdict, believing that the lawyers provided the airline with services in full and at market, and not fraudulent, as the investigation considered, prices.
Earlier, the prosecutor demanded to sentence Alexandrov, Kibets, Slivko and Davydova to nine years in a general regime colony each. The prosecutor asked all the defendants to add a fine of 1 million rubles to the sentence, and Alexandrov also to deprive the state awards.[1]
