2022: Electric car specifications revealed

In mid-July 2022, the characteristics of the Russian Kama-2 electric car became known. It is created for engines with a capacity of 70 to 130 kilowatts, and the expected mileage on a single charge will vary from 300 to 500 kilometers depending on the engine power and battery capacity.

It is argued that the Kama-2 project has nothing to do with the Kama-1 show, which was designed in 2020 at the computer engineering center, which is part of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

Electric car "Kama-2" will pass without recharging up to 500 km

If "Kama-1" had a frame-panel body with external elements made of plastic, now a model with a metal supporting body is expected. There were three doors, there would be five.

It is assumed that the electric car may be created with the involvement of KamAZ forces. A machine with a front electric motor is planned.

In terms of size, "Kama-2" will be noticeably larger than the version of "Kama-1": the length of the novelty will be 3750 millimeters (against 3500 mm for "Kama-1"), which is 415 mm more than, for example, the XRay hatchback, the most compact Lada model.

The wheelbase is 2515 millimeters (the XRay has 2592 millimeters), and the width and height of the electric car will be 1760 and 1615 millimeters, respectively.

During the preparation of the project for serial production, some features may change. For example, it is not reported whose battery production will be used in an electric car. But it may well be Russian - from Rosatom.

The Kama-2 project is being worked on by Kama JSC, affiliated with KamAZ and co-financed by the general director of the Chelny manufacturer Sergei Kogogin.

The city electric car may enter the market in 2024-2025, Kogogin said earlier. According to him, the main areas of use of the car will be car sharing and taxis.[1]
