Biography

2022: Killed in the workplace

On July 18, 2022, Murat Balov, director of the Republican Neuropsychiatric Boarding School of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, was shot dead at the workplace.

The incident occurred after 11:00 Moscow time in the village of Yaniki. An unknown masked man entered the office of the director of the institution Murat Balov. Together with him was the head of the guard. The attacker shot both with a firearm. They died on the spot from their injuries, and the attacker fled the scene of the crime. Investigators opened a criminal case under the article "Double murder," the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.

As it turned out later, the criminal carried a sawn-off shotgun in his bag. From it he shot at Balov. Hearing the noise, the head of the guard ran into the office, whom an unknown person also shot.

The sounds of gunfire led to panic in the boarding school. One of the employees ran along the corridor past the office. Her elderly colleague carefully came to the door and tried to stop the outgoing criminal, but he waved off and went out. By July 19, 2022, a search for the killer is underway, the investigation has data on the identity of the suspect.

Murat Balov was 43 years old at the time of his death. Over the past 12 years, the man headed several social institutions - the Center for Social Assistance to Families and Children in the Baksan District, the Comprehensive Center for Social Services to the Population in the same place, the Prokhladnensky Children's Boarding House and the Nalchik Boarding House for the Elderly and Disabled.

Balov managed the neuropsychiatric boarding school for a total of eight years. At the same time, he was a member of the municipal council of deputies.[1]
