2022: Beginning of application in special operation in Ukraine

On July 21, 2022, it became known that as part of a special operation in Ukraine, they first used the longest-range rifle in the world, the Sumrak. This is a Russian development - the weapon was created by the private arms company Lobaev Arms.

The use of the rifle by snipers near Kharkov and Kyiv is reported by TASS, citing a source in the security forces. According to the interlocutor of the agency, the rifle was used "rarely enough, since the area was not always suitable for its normal operation over long distances."

"Twilight" rifle

Among the advantages of Sumrak, the agency's informant called "a combination of powerful cartridges, large caliber and high accuracy of firing at ultra-long distances," but also noted the heavy weight of the weapon, the high cost and inaccessibility of cartridges.

The Lobaev Arms brand is part of the Integrated Systems Design Bureau (KBIS), which develops and manufactures long-range and high-precision rifles. The products of the enterprise are used by special forces of the FSO, FSB and other law enforcement agencies.

"Gloom" is effective in the temperature range from - 45 to + 65 C. To create the culprit, the KING V3.0 shutter group was used. The SVLK-14S model is deliberately made single-shot to ensure the greatest rigidity of the design and change of calibers. The initial velocity of the bullet exceeds 900 m/s, and the accuracy of fire is 0.3 MOA\9 mm between the centers (5 shots per 100 m).[1]"

2019: Setting the record

November 29, 2019 set a night shooting record (moonless night). From a rifle of the Sumrak SVLK-14S with a Dedal-NV night sight, shooter Sergei Shmakov hit chest target No. 4 (circle diameter 50 cm) with all 5 shots out of 5 from a distance of 2 km. The target is paper, not warm contrast.
