2022: Taliban resistance in northern Afghanistan

As of July 2022, the rebels of the Front of the National Resistance of Afghanistan (FNSA), led by Ahmad Masoud, are a serious obstacle to the Taliban movement. The presence in their ranks of former members of the Afghan national army, as well as resistance support provided from outside (in addition to tacit assistance to Tajikistan, Masud paid for the services of lobbyists in the American Senate to advance his interests), helped the militia.

They use the tactics of ambushes by small groups to locations of Taliban militants in the northern provinces of the country. According to the FNSA press service, six attacks were carried out in a month, during which more than 50 Taliban were eliminated and at least 100 were injured. At the same time, information about their losses is silent.

The most intense clashes with the Taliban are in the provinces of Baghlan and Panjshir, where the Taliban have sent significant resources. Despite the loud statements of the press services of both parties, neither of them is able to gain a significant advantage in the above areas.
