At the end of July 2022, the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced a competition for the creation of a national social network in the country. Potential applicants for the implementation of the project must send an application by October 1, 2022. The winners of the tender will have a year to create the service.

The initiator of the startup project should be one of its founders or shareholders of the company. Each participant can submit only one project to the competition. It is reported that all projects should be based on their own developments and innovations.

A national social network is being created in Uzbekistan

The creation of a national social network and messenger is provided for by the draft "road map" for the implementation of the development strategy of the new Uzbekistan for 2022 − 2026, published for public discussion. The creation of social networks and instant messengers is aimed at "protecting the personal data of citizens," the project says.

To develop national communication platforms, it is planned to attract "leading specialists and large entrepreneurs" of the industry, as well as equip the platforms with software and hardware that meet modern data transfer and processing requirements.

In addition, it is planned to develop effective mechanisms for promoting and supporting the system of creating a national ICT product. Tax incentives are offered to create a software product, increase audience coverage of the national social network and instant messengers.

Earlier in Uzbekistan, the launch of a national social network Davra.uz. It was developed by the UZINFOCOM center with the support of the Ministry of Information Technology Development and Communications. By August 2022, a little more than 22 thousand people were registered there.

In addition, a presidential decree of December 13, 2018 provided for the introduction of government mobile communications and the "cryptographically secure first national messenger UzChat."[1]
