2022: System Announcement
On August 4, 2022, an American autonomous Embark technology trucks company introduced autopilot for a truck that can itself interact with the police and present them with documents.
The truck will be able to recognize the police car by the flashing lights on. In this case, the car will give a signal to a remote operator, and he will observe the situation from the cameras and decide whether the car really needs to be stopped. If it was decided to stop the truck, the policeman will approach the drone and open a safe with documents by code, which he can get by calling the operator at the number written on the back of the truck. Then the car will return to autonomous mode and continue to move further along its previously laid route.
{{quote "The ability to safely participate in interaction with emergency vehicles is necessary to drive an autonomous vehicle on public roads. Law enforcement agencies should always be able to stop a commercial vehicle - autonomous or not - to enforce the law. This opportunity was designed to easily fit into existing law enforcement workflows without requiring them to learn more or invest in technology, said Embark's head of public policy, Emily Warren. }}
Embark argues that these functions allow their trucks to fulfill law enforcement requests in the same way that a human-driven truck would respond in similar situations. However, autonomous vehicles will be equipped with technology that will provide a much faster, even five-fold, vehicle response compared to current drivers.[1]
