Researchers of InformationWeek summed up the results of an annual research of projects of virtualization and came to a conclusion that in the current year the number of the companies which are going to use this technology at least for a quarter of the servers became 13% less.

To ways to global virtualization there was an incident: development of such centers strongly slowed down, analysts of InformationWeek note. According to Gartner, at the moment "penetration" of technologies of virtualization makes only 16% of loading of DPC. According to the research InformationWeek, actually the aspiration to virtualization in reality removes the company back.

Experts of InformationWeek were set by search of "success stories" in the field of virtualization. Vendors positioned technology as the combination of the first-class equipment and increase in efficiency of its operation giving economic benefits. Whether it was succeeded to reach them?

Answers of customers are different. Some companies long enough do not stop implementations therefore there is an opportunity to estimate the received results. As a result, the most often sounding answer consisted in the following: "We do not know what economy we, but precisely know that it is".

At the same time, the research revealed that 35% of respondents assume to virtualize less than a quarter of the centers. This result reflects less optimistic, but more realistic judgments, unlike the last year's overview when only 22% of respondents expressed similar opinion.

Reasons for that weight. Availability of generation of virtual machines often involves readiness to make more and, soon, the IT manager detects - virtual machines "run up" in hands as live, the report says.

With growth of number of virtual machines on the server, there is also a problem of input-output (I/O) of data - it is the first limiter of virtualization. Cisco, working with VMware, for permission of this "bottleneck" created network structure and entered the market of servers with the Unified Computing System platform. Hewlett-Packard was answered by BladeSystem Matrix.

Meanwhile, third-party developers saw an exit. Xsigo, with its I/O Director, and others aim to virtualize an input/output and to transfer it from the virtual switchboard to the hardware device, reducing thereby load of the server host. It is obvious that management tools have paramount value after creation of virtual environment, researchers of InformationWeek conclude.

History Orchard Supply Hardware

When Mun Son (Moon Son), the director of IT department of Orchard Supply Hardware, in 2006 headed DPC of the company, he understood at once - for virtualization everything should be started from scratch. The new employer at that moment had plans for a number of projects which he wanted to bring to a top of the growing old IT infrastructure, preparing two new payment systems. First of all, Mun Son preferred to refuse gradually three tens servers, substituting with their servers Dell, autonomous and rack execution, virtualized the 13th host servers and at last, trebled performance of systems for satisfaction of the growing requirements of the company.
