2022: Announcement of a smart tillage machine to improve yields

Saratov State Agrarian University named after N.I. Vavilov has created a tillage unit with Internet of Things technology, which, according to the developers, increases crop yields by 15-20%. The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Saratov Region announced this on August 9, 2022.

The novelty was called the "Combined tillage tool." It uses the modernized Strip-till technology, which ensures a reduction in the passage of equipment, a decrease in traction resistance, a decrease in energy consumption, as well as an increase in the quality of soil cultivation of the formed strip. The unit is equipped with a precision farming system with built-in IoT sensors of operational control, which allows you to reduce the cost of fuels and lubricants to 25-30% and on mineral fertilizers and plant protection products to 30-35%, ensure the crumbling of more than 80% of the soil and carry out its autumn treatment to a depth of 35 cm.

A smart tillage machine has been developed in Saratov

Device is used for simultaneous performance of several technological operations with preservation of high quality of works performed, as a result of which crop yield is increased.

It is noted that component systems are interchangeable in the form of uniform sections with the possibility of adjusting the inter-rows. They are created as part of the import substitution program and are compatible with existing import counterparts. The use of the unit is especially effective in the conditions of a risky farming zone, that is, on 80% of the territory of Russia, and contributes to increasing the yield of crops while maintaining the positive properties of existing traditional dumping and flat-cutting soil treatments, the University of Vavilov reported.

The production of the unit has already been launched at the agricultural enterprise of the Saratov region.[1]
