Announcement of the device

On August 8, 2022, the South Korean company LG Display announced the creation of a 97 ″ OLED EX TV panel, in which Cinematic Sound OLED will debut. The technology allows the display to vibrate and generate sound directly from the display without separate speakers.

Audio output on the TV is provided by Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) technology: behind the display is a thin film exciter that makes the screen vibrate and play sound without speakers. According to the company, the 5.1-channel system implemented in this way provides the viewer with a cinematic level of immersion.

LG introduced a TV with a vibrating screen through which sound is played

LG said it is the largest OLED display ever created for TVs, although Koreans have previously announced a device with a screen with the same diagonal but no surround sound function. LG Display announced its OLED EX technology in December 2021, saying it delivers 30% brighter screens than standard OLED displays thanks to the use of deuterium and the South Korean company's EX technology algorithm. Unfortunately, the company did not talk about other technical characteristics.

OLED EX TVs are starting to go on sale from brands such as LG and Philips, but 97 ″ about 2.5 meters in size is rare among OLED TVs. A commercial version of LG's Film Cinematic Sound OLED-enabled TV is expected to hit the market before the end of 2022. The Verge suggests that the price will be at least $25,000, explaining that they came to this conclusion, taking into account the cost of the same 97 ″ LG TV without innovative[1] technology[2]
