MegaFon overclocked mobile Internet at VDNKh to 5G speed

MegaFon on August 17, 2022 announced the modernization of the network on the territory of VDNKh. This allowed to increase the peak speed of mobile Internet by 60% to 1.4 GB/s, which is comparable to the speed in the 5G network.

In the first six months of 2022 alone, the number of visitors to the VDNKh territory increased by 20% compared to the same period in 2021, MegaFon calculated using big data analysis tools. At the same time, the consumption of mobile Internet traffic is also growing: in the first half of the year it increased by 25%, and more than half of the total traffic consumption at VDNKh fell on social networks, video services and instant messengers.

In order to cope with the growing load on the network and give subscribers the opportunity to use mobile Internet while resting at maximum speeds, MegaFon upgraded the 4G network throughout the exhibition complex, increasing the capacity of base stations by an average of 2.5 times.

Special attention was paid to: the entrance group, the Cosmos pavilion and the square near the Friendship of Peoples fountain. In these locations, the capacity of base stations was increased to 10 times. This allows subscribers to use mobile Internet at the highest speeds, regardless of the number of people nearby.

VDNKh has always been one of the main places of attraction for residents and guests of the capital, so we paid especially much attention to the development of our network in this location. In a month, we have modernized base stations throughout VDNKh to give all our subscribers the opportunity to use mobile Internet here at a speed comparable to 5G. By the end of 2022, we will increase the speed of mobile Internet in other popular tourist places in Moscow, "said Andrey Abramov, director of infrastructure projects at the Capital Branch of MegaFon.
