2022: Plan to create a data farm to predict the spread of viral infections

All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Technical Physics will create a "Data Farm" by the end of 2022 to predict the spread of infections based on data from Sberbank and MTS. This became known on August 18, 2022.

This follows from the materials of the FSUE tender posted on the public procurement website.

This is the third such purchase, the previous two were carried out in 2020 and 2021. As stated in the terms of reference, "in the context of epidemics, an adequate medium- and long-term description of their spread is necessary" on a Russian scale, which takes into account the introduction and lifting of quarantine, psychological and behavioral characteristics of various groups of the population, the impact on them of slowing down and gradually restoring work activity, as well as vaccination. To solve this problem, it is necessary to create a "mathematical model closest to the real situation."

At the current stage of the project, it is necessary to conduct an experimental operation of an experimental sample of the Data Farm software complex: to develop technologies for the extraction, processing and storage of initial data using artificial intelligence, as well as to form a database to determine a model for the spread of viral infections in cities from a list agreed with the customer. What cities will be discussed, as well as on what conditions and what kind of data will be transmitted by MTS and Sber, as well as from what other sources the program will receive information, is not specified in the procurement materials.

The representative of VNIITF said that the purchase is carried out to carry out work on the grant, which was issued back in 2020 to simulate epidemics of viral infections. We are talking about the amount of 300 million rubles, which the consortium received, which, in addition to the VNIITF, included the Institute of Applied Physics, the Institute of Applied Mathematics named after M.V. Keldysh, the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalei, the National Medical Research Center for Phthisiopulmonology and Infectious Diseases. The project is led by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergey Lebedev. To other questions, the representative of VNIITF did not answer[1].
