2022: Market Entry

In August 2022, Mawi released a one-time dual-band heart monitor, the readings of which can be read in real time. The manufacturer claims to have made a unique product and believes the Heart Patch is the first single-use dual-band heart monitor to hit the market.

According to the developers, the disposable nature of the device is an advantage, since cardiologists can conduct tests on a large number of patients, without waiting for reusable devices to return from other patients, undergo disinfection and maintenance between uses.

{{quote 'Cardiovascular disease poses the greatest risk to our health in the long term and is the leading cause of death worldwide. The lack or inefficiency of monitoring often turns out to be a decisive factor, but many of these deaths can be avoided with the right preventive measures, "said Andrei Klimenko, CEO of Mawi. Too often, patients do not realize the severity of their symptoms until it is too late. Many patients using Mawi Heart Patch are healthy in appearance, exercise daily and show no signs of the disease, but still have potentially fatal heart disease. We are on a mission to protect the heart from "silent killers" and are already partnering with like-minded clinics that are seeing amazing results. }} The patch connects to a smartphone in the doctor's office. This device transmits data to the cloud, where AI analyzes the results and highlights any abnormal phenomena that cardiologists should pay attention to. The process happens very quickly, which means patients can get feedback and further treatment steps.

{{quote 'In less than 24 hours, [doctors] get a very detailed, accurate and effective report, says Klimenko, believing that doctors can focus immediately on treatment rather than spending a lot of time analyzing data, since management takes only a couple of seconds. }} According to the company, the Mawi Heart Patch heart monitor, it can be pasted on in less than a minute, and while wearing it, the patient can lead a regular lifestyle.

The company employs about 30 employees scattered around the world, including teams in Thailand and the United States. Mawi does not say exactly how many devices are in operation, but Klimenko notes that every month they send thousands of devices to customers in the United States, the EU and the Middle East.

The devices must be discharged by a doctor, and the price largely depends on health insurance and the health care system, but Klimenko says the devices, on average, cost "less than $250 per study."[1]
