2022: Launch of network of clinics
The founder of the Unim Aleksei Remez Digital Medical Laboratory has launched a new network of clinics focusing on supplemental health insurance (VHI) programs. This became known at the end of September 2022.
Remez's startup was called Reztom, the entrepreneur himself told Kommersant. According to him, the first medical center opened the Skolkovo technopark, about $200 thousand of its own funds were invested in it. The Reztom concept involves the opening of clinics with an area of 60-150 m2, they will work within the framework of corporate medical care according to the VHI system. Remez plans to open up to 500 outpatient clinics within three to five years.
Aleksei Remez plans to sell a minority stake in Reztom worth $2 million. Among potential investors, he names, among other things, insurance companies. Among interested investors, he names two individuals and five organizations, including three funds with experience in investing in medical startups and an insurance organization.
There is no uniqueness in the Reztom project, says co-owner of Euromed Clinic Alexander Abdin. According to him, such startup projects in the United States, for example, at Kaiser Permanente, failed. A doctor for a full-fledged diagnosis, including MRI and CT, in any case needs heavy medical equipment, Abdin added. DSM Group CEO Sergei Shulyak, on the contrary, points out that by September 2022, people in general prefer convenience in service and are increasingly choosing clinics near home or work.
VHI is the fastest growing type of insurance. Contributions under VHI for April - June 2022, according to the Central Bank, increased by 16.8% year-on-year, the volume of premiums reached 47 billion rubles. The regulator linked this rise to an increase in demand and an increase in the cost of insurance programs due to higher prices for medical goods and services.
