2022: The start of the project to modernize the anthropomorphic robot of the torus type

In September 2022, on the basis of the Leningrad branch of the North-Western Territorial District branch of FSUE FEO, a project was launched to modernize an anthropomorphic torus-type robot for working with radioactive waste (RAO). The robot will be equipped with a three-fingered grip to improve motor skills and expand the functionality of application in strong radiation fields. This was announced on September 28, 2022 by the FEO.

The robotic arm will be used at the stage of RW extraction, fragmentation and disposal, which will reduce the radiation load on the personnel involved in this work.

The capture upgrade will allow operation in a wider range of capabilities in accordance with the technical regulations for the extraction of elements of the reactor control and protection system (CPS).

FSUE "FEO" has developed extensive experience in using robotic manipulators in sorting "bulk" radioactive waste and moving dangerous radioactive goods, - commented Sergey Florya, Deputy General Director for International Activities and New Businesses of FSUE "FEO." "Already in January next year, the robot will be presented in an updated version."

The project to modernize the robot is another important step towards the introduction of deserted technologies for the management of hazardous waste of various types at FSUE FEO.

The anthropomorphic robot (also known as "Alesha") was created in 2019 by the company "Android Technology" by order of "RosRAO" for remote work with radioactive waste.
