2022: Accused of paedophilia acquits court

On September 29, 2022, the Sverdlovsk Regional Court acquitted the head of the intensive care unit City Clinical Hospital No. 40 Yekaterinburg , Vladimir Gromov, who was accused of pedophilia. The doctor was found not guilty and released.

According to the lawyer, the mother of one of the girls was present at the trial, talking about the psychological trauma that happened to her daughter when she saw a man in the bushes. The woman refused to give public comments to journalists, the portal points out E1.ru.

The version of the investigation was as follows: from 1 to 17 August 2020 in the village of Bolshoi Istok, a certain man "committed depraved actions against a minor." A few days later, two more children noticed the same man there.

The Investigative Committee published video from cameras in the field of view of which the suspect fell. The head of the department of the city clinical hospital recognized himself on the record, came to the authorities to explain himself, but was detained and subsequently convicted under Art. 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violent acts of a sexual nature."

From the very beginning, he claimed that he had to cope with the need on the street, as he has problems with the bladder after suffering a stroke. And in Bolshoi Istok, the doctor looked after the house, wanted to buy it with his wife at the expense of the mother capital.

Vladimir Gromov, a veteran of hostilities in Chechnya, his husband and father came to the police himself. The examination showed that he does not experience sexual attraction to children. But two children's voices outweighed the evidence and the doctor was sentenced to five years.

However, Gromov challenged this decision. As a result, the man was acquitted of both episodes: in one case, due to the absence of a crime event, in the other, due to the lack of corpus delicti in the man's actions.[1]
