2022: Magnetic Communication System Testing
NPP "Radio Communication" holding "Roselectronics"[1][2] tested a magnetic communication system that allows you to receive and transmit information to underwater and underground facilities. This became known on October 17, 2022.
A highly sensitive broadband sensor of weak magnetic fields is capable of detecting variable fields with a frequency from a fraction of hertz to 1 megahertz. It can be used as a receiving antenna in magnetic communication systems. Unlike electromagnetic waves, variable magnetic fields freely pass through any dielectric obstacles: building walls, water, soil, etc.
An experiment was carried out at the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric station. The transmitting antenna with a diameter of 1 m, together with the transmitter, was lowered to the bottom of the Krasnoyarsk Sea to a depth of 93 m. Digital information was transmitted at a speed of 120 Kbps and received at the top by a sensor of weak magnetic fields. With a transmit generator power of about 200 watts, the received signal was 100 times more noise. This means that the experimental system can provide a communication range of significantly more than 93 m.
