2022: Digitization of more than a million kilometres of roads

More than a million kilometers of roads and road infrastructure facilities in Russia have been digitized in the information system of the Federal State Institution "Rosdormonitoring" for issuing special permits for traffic on roads of heavy or large vehicles. The system developed by SoftTelematics based on the received register will be able to automatically issue permits, providing freight carriers and road owners with a "green corridor" when agreeing on the route. In addition, this regularly updated digital register of roads can be used in other state services in the transport and logistics sector. The Telematics concern announced this on October 19, 2022.

For movement on heavy roads or vehicles with oversized cargo, such as nodes of the aviation and rocket and space industries, various special equipment, a special permit is required, since travel on inconsistent routes can lead to the destruction of road infrastructure and poses a danger to other road users.

Applications for the transportation of large goods or the passage of heavy vehicles are submitted in a convenient electronic form, and road owners agree on routes online in their personal account.

The system has created a register of road infrastructure facilities throughout Russia, which is constantly updated. As of October 2022, the system covers more than 1.1 million kilometers of the country's roads, 9 thousand road owners are registered in the digital platform and more and more are connected to the system.

All organizational measures to translate the procedure online have been carried out. As of October 19, 2022, 421 thousand special permits were issued. The unified digital platform has accelerated the coordination of routes and the issuance of permits by 2-3 times. To further increase the convenience of users, a new functionality will appear in the system - the "green corridor." This is the automatic generation of a special permit if the vehicle parameters pass through all restrictions on the requested route. The service will be provided even faster and radically reduce the risks of errors in coordinating the route of transport. It is planned that more than 80% of permits will be formed automatically, - commented Vasily Shubenkov, First Deputy Director of Rosdormonitoring PKU.

{{quote "Information on road objects in the system is constantly updated, including timely updating information on repair work and restrictions introduced on the roads. Digitized information on road infrastructure allows you to automate the issuance of permits, and together with statistical route data can be used to analyze and optimize the road network. The collected data array can also be used for various current and new state services provided to transport and logistics companies, - said Dmitry Kazarinov, General Director of SoftTelematics (part of the Telematics concern). }}
