AMX-10 RC tanks are too weak for an offensive, break down due to mud, and Ukrainian soldiers die in them from fragments

One of the commanders of the 37th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in June 2023 told AFP that the use of RC AMX-10 during the offensive is "impractical" - due to the thin armor of these tanks.

4 military Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were in the French armored vehicle, died during the shelling, fragments from a 152-mm shell pierced the armor and killed the entire crew.

The RC AMX-10 has features in the operation of the gearbox, which breaks - perhaps it is not provided for use in such difficult conditions. Breakdowns are most likely due to dirt on the roads.

Earlier, France announced the transfer of about 40 such combat vehicles to Kyiv.

Six-wheeled AMKh-10RC are called "light tanks" because of the 105-mm tank gun, but in its class it is rather a heavy armored personnel carrier, since armor protection does not allow it to participate in modern battle on a par with a tank.

Production of shells for Ukraine

At the beginning of 2023, the authorities of France and Australia agreed on the joint supply of 155-mm artillery shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ammunition is compatible with French, German and American artillery installations.

The production of shells was implemented within the framework of the existing agreement between the two countries.

A branch of the French company Thales in Australia supplies raw materials, which are then processed in France. At the Eurenco plant, gunpowder is produced from it, which the state-owned Nexter company uses to create artillery ammunition.

The first batch should leave for Ukraine at the end of the first quarter of 2023.
