2022: Launch of radiotherapy centre
A radiotherapy center is being launched in Syria, organized with the participation of Russian specialists. This became known on October 24, 2022.
Specialists of the National Medical Research Center of Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia conducted a control launch of the equipment of the Center for Radiation Therapy at the Al-Bayruni Clinic (Damascus). Moscow and Obninsk radiologists took part in its adjustment.
Detailed consultations for Arab colleagues were held, among other things, by Deputy Director General for Surgery Andrei Ryabov and chief freelance radiologist of the Russian Ministry of Health Yevgeny Khmelevsky.
Of course, Syrian citizens really need this center of radiation therapy, "said Academician Ranandrey Kaprin," we know what legacy left in the republic war, and now our colleagues have to expand the field of activity and master new technologies with an even greater desire for peaceful life. The National Medical Research Center of Radiology signed an agreement with Damascus University on cooperation in the field of medical science and education. It involves the launch of joint projects, the exchange of students, graduate personnel, as well as faculty.
The medical faculty of Damascus University is one of the oldest faculties in the Middle East, it was established in 1903. The Al Bayrouni Clinic is one of eight hospitals at the university. This is a comprehensive institution for the provision of medical care to citizens of the country in the profile of "oncology." The clinic has departments for the treatment of malignant neoplasms of the most common localizations: breast, oncourology, hematology, pulmonary and gynecological diseases, orthopedics, gastroenterology, pediatrics, as well as head and neck.[1]
