2022: Death after nasal plastic surgery

On November 8, 2022, it became known about the death of a 22-year-old young man after plastic surgery in a private clinic in the north-west of Moscow.

According to RIA Novosti, citing Yulia Ivanova, senior assistant to the head of the Moscow headquarters of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, a criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime committed in the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of a patient by negligence.

According to the agency's source, on November 8, 2022, a 22-year-old Muscovite underwent rhinoplasty. His condition deteriorated sharply at the end of the operation. The doctors of the clinic and the ambulance team tried to resuscitate the patient for 40 minutes, but they could not save him.

According to Izvestia, the incident occurred in a clinic on Shchukinskaya Street. The young man Nikita Zakharychev underwent an operation of the nasal septum and nasal shells, which lasted 1 an hour 10 minutes. After the end of the operation, the man's heart stopped. According to preliminary information, the cause was a pulmonary embolism (blockage of the pulmonary artery or its branches with blood clots).

He died immediately after coming out of anesthesia. It is known that the patient weighed about 150 kg with a height of 180 cm. Before the operation, the risk of thromboembolism was assessed as low, the newspaper writes.

According to the Ren TV channel, the doctors called an additional team of resuscitators and used a pacemaker, but the young man died.

Investigators will examine medical documentation, interrogate the management and staff of the clinic. Which medical center the incident occurred in was not reported by November 8, 2022.^[1][2]
