Education

Alexander Zharkov graduated from the Kirov Military Medical Academy. He also received a diploma from Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Career

2000-2019

Alexander Zharkov began his career as a nurse in the department of the St. Petersburg Hospital of War Veterans. Zharkov worked as the head physician at the Department Hospital at the Volkhovstroy station of Russian Railways, and Zharkov headed the Kirov Clinical Interdistrict Hospital since 2019.

2022: Appointment as Chairman of the Health Committee of the Leningrad Region

In November 2022, the former chief physician of the Kirov hospital, Alexander Zharkov, was appointed the new chairman of the health committee of the Leningrad region. He replaced Sergei Vylegzhanin, who resigned in October 2022. Vylegzhanin led the department for eight years.

The candidacy of Alexander Zharkov was approved by the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko. He e described the new head of the committee as a "professional manager in medicine."
