2022: Launch of a new doughnut chain

In November 2022, it became known that restaurateur Arkady Novikov launched the Krunchy Dream chain, which specializes in donuts. The new confectionery shops will replace the American chain Krispy Kreme, which left the Russian market in April 2022 amid a special military operation in Ukraine.

In Moscow, where Krispy Kreme was previously present, Krunchy Dream appeared, follows from Google Maps. It is emphasized that earlier Novikov acted as a partner of the American network, he was engaged in the development of cafes under a franchise agreement.

Moreover, back in September, Glazur LLC, which is owned by the entrepreneur, sent an application to Rospatent for the registration of Krunchy Dream and Kranchi Dream trademarks. A cafe employee told RBC that the rebranding began immediately after Krispy Kreme left the country. However, he said, "the doughnuts remained the same."

At the time of the departure of the American company, 30 Krispy Kreme franchise establishments operated in Russia. Krispy Kreme's report for the second quarter of 2022 indicated that it had closed them.

By November 22, 2022, the official website of Krunchy Dream is not yet on the network, while the website of the Russian division of Krispy Kreme is still working and you can place an order through it. It can also be issued through the Delivery Club and Yandex.Food services - there the assortment is already indicated under a new brand.

In an interview, Arkady Novikov admitted that he had two dreams: to open McDonald's in Russia, where he proposed to his future wife, and to bring the American network Krispy Kreme to the country. The businessman said that he was so impressed by these doughnuts that he constantly brought them from abroad. In Russia, Krispy Kreme doughnuts were produced mainly from American ingredients, but Novikov promised that the company would try to replace them with domestic counterparts - sugar, for example, Russian confectionery used domestic.[1]
