2022: New Drone Arrivals

On November 22, 2022, the commander of the Iranian naval forces, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, announced that new attack helicopters and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles were being adopted.

It is reported that new generation helicopters will be used to escort ships. In turn, drones will allow Navy units to defend areas within a 2,000 km radius. The systems in service make it possible to simultaneously control hundreds of drones for various tasks.

Iranian Navy receives new drones

In July 2022, the Iranian Navy presented its first drone division. It consists of warships and submarines carrying a wide range of combat, reconnaissance and strike drones. These include Pelican, Homa, Arash, Chamrosh, Jubin, Ababil-4 and Bavar-5 drones, among others.

For the first time, we will receive naval attack helicopters that will provide great assistance in naval operations, especially when escorting ships. In the field of drones, we will replenish the fleet with modern drones with a flight range of more than 2000 km. With these devices, we will be able to operate in any part of the world, and we have various achievements in the field of missile systems, "Shahram Irani said.

It is known that targets at a distance of up to 2000 km can be hit by a Arash-2 drone. Observers compare this device with a cruise missile, but with a lower flight speed. There is not too much information about the Arash-2, so it is not yet clear how well this drone is capable of maneuvering. If the device is equipped with a jet engine, it most likely flies at medium altitudes for a better range. The cost of the drone, depending on the equipment, can vary from $10 thousand to $50 thousand.[1]
