Demonstration of hosting capabilities from orbit
Satelliteserver - The company RUVDS has demonstrated capabilities hosting from orbit. Despite the occurrence of an abnormal situation when leaving the launch container and damage to the disk array, the spacecraft system reproduced the backup version HTML of the page. Anyone can get acquainted with its content through a special portal. This was announced on July 13, 2023 by RUVDS.
The test project communicates with receiving stations on Earth and broadcasts HTML code at 436.26 MHz. Receiving stations are connected to the Internet, which gives the user on Earth access to information. Also, the spacecraft will allow researchers, including schoolchildren and students, to study the operation of equipment that plays the role of a server, in conditions of zero gravity, high radiation and extreme temperatures.
Our space mission is a technology test, and the first conclusions can already be drawn. Initially, we planned to host a more "heavy" HTML page, but technical problems that had already arisen in orbit led us to "cut" it to a more primitive look, although, I note, this is still a site. On Earth, we work according to the high standard of reliability of Tier III equipment and infrastructure, and in the space project we paid special attention to the issues of ensuring uninterrupted access. Therefore, the device provided a backup system, which, as we can see, worked perfectly. Sputnik continues to fulfill its functions, and all further plans of the company for, among other things, the educational direction will be implemented, - said Nikita Tsaplin, founder and CEO of RUVDS. |
Hosting the test site was the first task of the device after the launch container of the Small Space Systems (ISS) company launched it into orbit on July 11, 2023, and the mission itself was the first use of the ISS launch container in practice.
Our launch container technology has shown its effectiveness, ensuring the delivery and functioning of the experimental apparatus. The RUVDS server satellite is a so-called tainisat that can fit in the palm of your hand. This format is ideal for small research missions and, I am sure, the demand for it will only grow. Therefore, it is no coincidence that in the future our launch container will be able to launch several dozen such satellites into orbit at once, "said Vladimir Bodrov, General Director of Malykh Space Systems. |
The launch container with the RUVDS satellite was delivered to orbit by the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle on June 27. The preparation of the space mission was carried out by the Stratonavtika company, which developed the "maternal" satellite - StratoSat TK-1. A launch container was integrated into it, from which the RUVDS apparatus was launched into orbit.
Putting the server satellite into orbit
On June 27, 2023, the launch container with the satellite server of the hosting provider RuVDS was delivered to orbit by the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle. The launch was carried out from the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region.
The preparation of the space mission was carried out by the Stratonavtika company, which developed the "maternal" satellite - the Stratosat TK-1 apparatus. The launch container of the joint development of the Small Space Systems and Stratonavtika companies is integrated into it, from which, in turn, the RuVDS apparatus will be launched into orbit.
We can say that our mission has begun. The first days the device will be in a launch container, and then will go on an independent journey in orbit, "says Nikita Tsaplin, founder and CEO of RuVDS. - We will conduct a series of tests related to the operation of server equipment, as well as implement several educational projects. Our goal is not a satellite for ourselves, but an apparatus that everyone can touch, and now all our efforts are aimed at this. |
A pico-satellite spacecraft of 5x5x10 cm format will allow testing the operation of server equipment, and the mission itself to launch it into orbit will be the first use of a launch container in practice. The devices successfully completed the full cycle of pre-flight tests in early summer 2023.
According to Vladimir Bodrov, General Director of Small Space Systems, the task of the launch container for the next few days can be described simply: putting the spacecraft into space and transferring it to the customer. Pico satellites are 10 times cheaper than conventional KubSatami, because the demand for launch container technology will only grow, he said.[1]
RUVDS Satellite Server Orbit Launch Plan
Satelliteserver hosting--provider RuVDS will be launched into orbit using a launch container, the company's technology. Small Space Systems (ISS) The mission will be carried out by the fall of 2023. RuVDS announced this on April 17, 2023.
This technology allows you to launch ultra-small pico-satellites with a minimum size of 5x5x5 cm on rockets equipped with launch containers for KubSats, the dimensions of which start from 10x10x10 cm. The solution allows you to quickly introduce this format of spacecraft into mass use and output several pico-satellites at once using one launch container.
We launch a satellite server in order to understand the reliability of the adopted architectural solutions and the prospects for the further development of such projects. And the fact that the launch of our vehicle into orbit is carried out using this launch container technology is another important point, because the experimental nature of the project from this is only increasing, which means that its scientific value is also increasing, this will be a special mission for Russia. I am sure that the results of the launch, which is planned to be carried out by the fall of 2023, will give ground for research to specialists from all over the world, - said Nikita Tsaplin, founder and CEO of the Russian hosting provider RuVDS. |
According to the company, the mission, in which the server satellite will be launched into orbit, will be the first use of the launch container in practice. In the future, the solution will be able to launch several dozen vehicles into orbit at once.
Our development will allow massively and without any changes to the existing launch infrastructure to launch pico-satellites into space, the use of which is 10 times cheaper than conventional KubSatami. So far, our launch container can put up to eight vehicles into orbit, but in the future this figure will be increased to 24 - due to the increase in the launch container from the current size of 1U to 3U, "said Vladimir Bodrov, General Director of Small Space Systems. |
The preparation of the space mission is carried out by Stratonavtika, which has developed a "maternal" satellite - the StratoSat TK-1 spacecraft, into which the launch container is integrated.
2022: Satellite Server Development Plan
Hosting-provider RuVDS and the company Small Space Systems entered into an agreement on the joint development of satellite. servers It will become a device that provides hosting right in orbit. RuVDS announced this on November 29, 2022.
The parties will jointly develop a pico-satellite based on TinySat the Small Space Systems platform under development. In addition, hosting the device will be able to perform and - scientificallyeducational tasks - will allow you to study the operation of the equipment performing the role in server conditions of zero gravity, high radiation and extreme temperatures. All received scientific will data be used in further developments.
Our space mission is about business, and about science, and about education at the same time. The data obtained from the device will become the basis for research, and the server, which for the first time in history offers real space hosting, can begin a new page in the development of the industry. For the project, we chose the pico-satellite format - this is a small device 5 by 5 centimeters, the launch of which into orbit is 10 times cheaper than the launch of "cubsats." We plan that the space server will begin work in 2023, - said Nikita Tsaplin, founder and CEO of the Russian hosting provider RuVDS. |
RuVDS plans to use the satellite for hosting sites - the selection of portals that will be hosted in turn will be carried out after the device is put into orbit.
We hope that this space experiment will entail strategic cooperation and demonstrate on the one hand the reliability of the software and hardware capabilities of RuVDS, and on the other hand, it will allow us to adopt and adapt the best principles of terrestrial virtual servers in building our software-defined satellite system, "said Vladimir Bodrov, General Director of Small Space Systems. |
