Career
2016-2021
Bret Taylor joined Salesforce in 2016 as part of a deal to sell his start-up Quip. He was appointed to the post of co-CEO in November 2021.
2022: Leaving Salesforce
On November 30, 2022, the American developer of the Salesforce CRM system announced that Bret Taylor would step down as vice chairman of the board and co-CEO of the company's director. This decision will enter into force on January 31, 2023.
Bret Taylor's duties included, among other things, many day-to-day operations at Salesforce, such as hosting weekly executive meetings. After Taylor left, one of the founders of Salesforce, Marc Benioff, will become chairman of the board of directors and sole CEO of the company.
I'm grateful for six fantastic years at Salesforce. Mark was my mentor long before I joined Salesforce, and being able to collaborate with him at such a significant software company has defined my career in many ways. After much thought, I decided to return to my entrepreneurial roots, "noted Bret Taylor. |
Taylor's departure comes in part as Salesforce grapples with slowing growth and increasing pressure from investors looking to boost profits. For the three-month reporting period, which ended on October 31, 2022 of the calendar year, Salesforce earned $210 million in net profit against $468 million in profit a year earlier. The company's revenue amounted to approximately $7.84 billion, which is 14% more than the result for the same financial quarter of the previous year. Bret Taylor's departure was announced almost three years after another Salesforce co-CEO Keith Block decided to leave the company.[1]
