2022: Implementation of video analytics system

EVRAZ ZSMK has implemented a video analytics system to monitor compliance with industrial safety by employees of the plant. A domestic solution based on artificial intelligence and machine vision from VideoMatrix automatically monitors the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) in real time and pays attention to the location of people. More than 98% accuracy of human detection now helps to prevent industrial injuries. VideoMatrix announced this on December 14, 2022.

To pilot the solution based on Vmx SILA: HSE, previously installed IP video cameras for video surveillance were used in the mid-grade workshop, converter workshop No. 2 and at the ball rolling mill No. 1. The results were demonstrated in the first month of work.

Employee safety is one of EVRAZ's priorities. As of December 2022, the company's enterprises are undergoing a transformation of the occupational health and safety management system. Our task is to stop the one who risks, save the life and health of employees. The video analytics system is an effective tool that will help you see the absence or non-use of the barrier and take action on time, "commented Alexey Mishustin, Director of Labor Protection and Industrial Safety at EVRAZ ZSMK.

The video analyst sends a signal to the responsible dispatcher in case of violation. This can be an employee getting into a danger zone, crossing prohibited lines of movement, or incorrectly wearing a special suit, the absence of a helmet. Domestic software, unlike foreign analogues, accurately determines a person, including behind the ceilings, by the presence of only a part of the body in the frame.

Restricted areas are generally already enclosed by grids. And when an employee falls into such a zone, he finds himself behind an obstacle that prevents a video analyst from confidently skeletonizing an object and recognizing a person in it. When the system does not see the employee completely, then, focusing on the proportions of human growth in the visible part of the body - helmet, shoulder - it still accurately determines the fact of violation, - said Farid Nigmatullin, General Director of VideoMatrix LLC. - We specialize in outstanding cases of video analytics. And the appeals of the giants of industry to us do us honor and at the same time impose great responsibility. Smart video analytics is being used more and more often, and we are pleased to make our significant contribution to the formation of this market segment.
