Project date: 2022/12

In mid-December 2022, it became known that Russian doctors first installed a prosthetic ankle joint of domestic production. We are talking about the development of the NTI Center "Bionic Engineering in Medicine," which began to be used in the clinics of Samara State Medical University (SamGMU).

The operation using a domestic endoprosthesis was carried out by a 46-year-old man: in 2021, he suffered a severe ankle fracture, which was accompanied by damage to the ankle joint. The fracture got together incorrectly, because of which the patient began to have severe pain, he could not walk normally. The only option was a complete ankle replacement.
