2022: Move to Postgres Pro
EFSOL announced on December 20, 2022 that it had implemented the transition from MS SQL to Postgres Pro for Flamco.
Experience in implementing the migration project from MS SQL to Postgres Pro for Flamco has shown that replacing DBMS with Postgres Pro not only does not reduce the performance and fault tolerance of databases, but also brings additional benefits to the business.
Flamco is engaged in the development, production and supply of products for heating, ventilation, drinking water supply, air conditioning and cooling of residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
The project was aimed at switching from Microsoft SQL to an alternative DBMS.
The transition to the selected structure included the following steps:
- The deployment and preparation of the environment for installing the DBMS used Debian 11.
- Setting up a remote secure connection to. to cloudy to the server 1C
- Installing and configuring PostgresPro. Configure configs for maximum performance and resource consumption.
- Create a test copy of the 1C workbase.
- Testing according to a customer-approved checklist of key accounting operations by a focus group of users on the test environment to identify performance issues and possible critical errors.
- Solving all errors that have occurred by the development team and engineers.
- Approval of the transfer date and start of the 1S:UPP working circuit on the Postgres DBMS.
The transition from MS SQL to Postgres Pro was made without production downtime. Users did not notice the difference in performance and performance errors.
As a result of this project, the client was able to abandon the use of Microsoft SQL Server and not depend on the external conditions of the vendor in its work. In addition, received significant savings in software licensing. Thanks to the fine-tuning of the Postgres server in comparison with MS SQL, the consumption of RAM and CPU resources has been reduced. It also became possible to increase fault tolerance and budget scaling of the structure.
