Russia-created satellite launched for communication and Internet in Africa

According to the ISS, Siberian satellite builders have created a spacecraft for the Republic of Angola in a short time. AngoSat-2 is designed to provide modern communication services, Internet access and digital television broadcasting on the territory of the African continent. The basis is the Express-1000N platform for middle-class devices. Satellites based on it have been operating in orbit for more than a decade, so such experience guarantees the reliability of the spacecraft, the company said.

The satellite was launched into orbit on October 12, 2022 from the Baikonur cosmodrome with a Proton-M launch vehicle with a DM-03 booster. He successfully passed all the necessary orbital checks, including testing the operability of onboard equipment of service systems and payloads in operation. According to the results of flight tests, the spacecraft was transferred to the customer for use for its intended purpose, noted in Roskosmos.

Russia and Angola agreed to create a communications satellite AngoSat-2 to replace the lost AngoSat-1 apparatus, which was launched on December 26, 2017 from the Baikonur cosmodrome, but the next day communication with it disappeared. It is noted that the satellite AngoSat-2 designed for reliable operation for 15 years.[1]
