2022: Transparent TV announcement

On December 15, 2022, JDI announced the development of a new version of the unique transparent Rælclear display. The project was implemented with the support of specialists from Hitachi, Toshiba and Sony.

Previously, JDI has already demonstrated a 12.3-inch Rælclear modification, while the new model is much larger: its size is 20.8 inches diagonally. In addition, other key features such as refresh rate and image quality have been improved. The developers also managed to reduce flickering.

The peculiarity of the Rælclear panels is that the image reads equally well on both sides. Thus, such displays can be used in a variety of fields, including the medical field, the advertising industry, segments of interactive entertainment, design, teamwork, etc. The developers say Rælclear actually takes the possibilities of communication between two people or groups of people to a whole new level.

The novelty has a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels (HD format) and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The refresh rate reaches 120 Hz, the brightness is 300 cd/m2. At the same time, the number of reproducible color shades by modern standards is very small - 4096. Light transmission is declared at 84%, which is comparable to the indicator of ordinary glasses. Control circuits and a power supply are integrated into the device base. The HDMI interface is used to receive the signal, which allows you to connect a variety of equipment, for example, a personal computer. Mass production of the 20.8-inch version of the Rælclear is scheduled for autumn 2023. There is no information about the estimated price at the end of 2022.[1]
