2022: The consumption of the new hybrid of 3.8 l/100 km actually turned out to be twice the declared

On December 27, 2022, it became known that taxi drivers in Heilongjiang province in northeastern China staged a protest at the Geely car dealership. The reason was the discrepancy between the actual fuel consumption of the Emgrand L Thor car Hi·P the declared characteristics.

The named model is a sedan with a hybrid power plant and the ability to charge from the electric network. Combined are a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 181 horsepower and an electric motor, which produces 136 horsepower. The total power is declared at 317 "horses." A 3-speed hybrid electric transmission is used, which offers 20 intelligent driving modes. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 6.9 s. The car received a fully digital dashboard based on a 10.3-inch display and an on-board infotainment complex with a 12.3-inch screen.

According to Geely, the average fuel consumption of the Emgrand L Thor Hi·P in hybrid mode is 3.8 l/100 km. With a fully refueled tank, you can drive up to 1300 km. However, according to Chinese taxi drivers, the actual fuel consumption of the hybrid is about twice as high. Moreover, exclusively on electric traction, the car, according to the assurances of car owners, can only cover a distance of about 30 km, and not 100 km, as Geely says. Now taxi drivers want to return the cars to the seller and receive compensation.

So far, Geely has not officially responded to the protest of Chinese drivers. But Heilongjiang province is reportedly experiencing lower temperatures, and in such conditions, increased fuel consumption and faster discharge of the battery pack are inevitable.[1]
