2023: Product Announcement

On January 4, 2023, Hisense announced what is claimed to be the world's first 8K-standard laser TV. The device with the 120LX designation forms an image of the highest quality.

In fact, the novelty is a video projector with ultra-short focal length. The proprietary TriChroma RGB technology based on three laser emitters was used to create bright and saturated colors. The declared coverage of the color space BT.2020 reaches 107%. The image resolution is 7680 × 4320 pixels, four times higher than 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels) and 16 times higher than Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels).

The novelty provides brightness up to 400 nits and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. It talks about support for Dolby Vision and HDR10, as well as IMAX Enhanced certification. The equipment includes a Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual: X Audio technologies. A 120-inch diagonal projection screen will be supplied with the laser TV.

The system is equipped with a Wi-Fi 6E wireless controller: in addition to the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands, operation in the 6 GHz band is possible. The built-in ATSC 3.0 OTA television tuner is mentioned. With HDMI 2.1 ports, users will be able to connect PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S game consoles, fully revealing their graphics capabilities. Support for Google TV, NEXTGEN TV (including Netflix) and Airplay 2 is mentioned.

Hisense does not report anything about the timing of the start of sales and the estimated cost of the novelty. According to the ProjectorScreen.com resource, the cost of the 120LX model can reach $16 thousand. Most likely, order acceptance will be open in the second half of 2023 - possibly in the fourth quarter.[1]
