2022: Construction of a 4.4 MW power plant at the Desnogorsk production site
On January 13, 2023, the company GRYS Power announced that it would build Smolensk region a local power plant 4.4 MW capacity in Desnogorsk at the base for the gas-piston electric motors needs of the production site of LLC "." Polymer The contract for construction and lease of the local power plant LLC Polymer and GRYS Power was signed in September 2022. The power plant will be able to provide up to 96% of the production site demand electric power with more than 10% lower unit costs compared to the weighted average network tariff. In addition, it will potentially allow the use of thermal energy from engines and the exhaust system for heating, hot water supply or cold production. During the project implementation, GRYS Power will also execute gasification the facilities.
Under the terms of the contract, GRYS Power carries out the design, construction and commissioning of the power plant with its subsequent lease to Polymer LLC, and also provides a set of services for its maintenance and operation. In addition, to provide the power plant with fuel, GRYS Power will build a supply gas pipeline with a length of more than 7.5 km with a technological connection of the facility to gas distribution networks. The construction and commissioning period of the power plant will be 12 months, and its lease period will be 15 years.
The power generation unit construction project is implemented with 100% financing at the expense of GRYS Power under the scheme B.O.O.T. (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer), which includes design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance. The volume of investments is 360 million rubles.
According to the energy service agreement, the operation and maintenance of the facility will be carried out by GRYS Power personnel within 15 years from the date of commissioning. The estimated power generation capacity is 4.48 MW with the possibility of expansion to 6.72 MW. The power plant is equipped with up-to-date and reliable safety, monitoring and control systems that allow you to quickly respond to any situations, make decisions related to the operation of the facility.
The station will allow Polymer LLC to solve the problems of reducing costs and improving the quality of electricity supply to the enterprise. The first stage, implemented in January 2023, provides for the construction and commissioning of 4 gas piston electrical installations (GPU) with a total electric capacity of 4.4 MW. GPUs are designed in a modular version based on WEICHAI gas piston engines and EvoTech generators. The production of GPU modules under the contract with GRYS Power is carried out by ROLT Engineering, a manufacturer of such equipment in Russia. The final stage of the construction of the first stage will be the commissioning of the power plant, scheduled for August-September 2023.
The second stage project provides for the installation of two additional GPUs with an increase in the total capacity of the power plant to 6.6 MW to cover the loads of Polymer LLC during the expansion of the production site. The parties agreed to make a decision on its construction additionally.
The power plant will operate around the clock, providing Polymer LLC with stable and high-quality power supply. The annual volume of electricity generation and consumption is estimated at 35 million kVt∙ch. GRYS Power and Polymer expect that the project will become the basis for long-term mutually beneficial cooperation.
