On January 19, 2023, the European Banking Supervision Service (EBA) published a report stating that the number of millionaire bankers in Europe has reached an all-time high.

We are talking about highly paid banking employees whose annual income is €1 million or more. In 2020, there were 1383 such bankers, and in 2021 the figure increased to 1957 people. Thus, year-on-year growth was 41.5%. The result shown was a record since the collection of EBA statistics in 2010. Approximately 70% of the total increase in the number of millionaire bankers was provided by institutions located in and Italy France. In Spain general, as noted, such rapid growth is due to the exit from Great Britain the European Union (): Brexit many highly paid employees were forced to move from the EU. London

The increase in the number of highly paid bankers is associated with good performance of financial institutions, in particular, in the field of investment banking services, trade and sales, as well as with the further migration of personnel from the UK to the European Union and with a general increase in wages, the report says.
